Welcome to our adventures!

We first met when I (Jon) was on my externship from The Culinary Institute of America in 1990. Dawn was already working at Walt Disney World, and like a fairytale, our paths crossed at King Stephan’s Banquet Hall in Cinderella Castle!

Over 30 years have passed since then… I have been in the food service industry all of my life as a chef, food and beverage director, and general manager for restaurants, hotels, and resorts, as well as the majority of my career has been with the leading food service distribution company as their corporate chef, training manager, specialist, and now leading the contract sales department in Jacksonville, Florida. Dawn left food service to raise our children, teach preschool, and care for our parents when they needed it. She has always been the rock that allowed me to focus on my career and was the CEO of our household!

With our kids grown and moved out, we now find ourselves as empty nesters! Dawn and I always “talked” about wanting to buy a camper and explore, but it never seemed like the right time. We always thought this would be the retirement plan. But if COVID taught us anything, is that it is time to start living NOW! So we bought a Grand Design 22RBE and will take to the road every chance we get.

With some research, mixed with a passion for food and a sense of adventure, Travel Sites and Bites was born. I hope that you will follow along as we learn more about camping, and I try to cook in a tiny camper kitchen. What you should see on our YouTube channel are videos about the sites we see… the food and restaurants that we eat at along the way… farms and vineyards that we visit… and recipes that I cook in the camper as we start exploring this beautiful country! Enjoy!
